Would you like some tea and crumpets? If so, then stop by the Colonial Rose Tearoom and Bed & Breakfast. Here, the “little girl” inside every woman who longs to dress up and serve tea to her friends is drawn out. Here, dreams become reality.

Situated in the heart of St. Anthony within walking distance of downtown and the beautiful parks lining the Snake River, the Colonial Rose Tearoom is housed within a historic building. Colonel Hamer, who rode with Teddy Roosevelt on San Juan Hill during the Spanish-American War, built this home in 1906 and later served as one of the first Idaho Representatives. Today, the home retains much of its turn of the century colonial flavor, and its warm Victorian atmosphere welcomes people of all ages.

For those simply interested in arranging a fun social gathering, the Colonial Rose Tearoom offers custom teas, low teas, and high teas. Custom tea is a personally blended tea served to guests. While high tea is served around the dining table with heavier foods such as savories and meat main courses, low tea provides a more casual parlor gathering complete with finger sandwiches, tortes, and truffles. The tearoom frequently plays host to bridal showers, baby showers, Red Hat Society galas, and little girl birthday tea parties where guests are invited to languish in the lovely home. For those who want to host their own tea party, the renowned teas are available for purchase.

The Colonial Rose Tearoom also receives overnight guests with open arms. Two uniquely painted and wallpapered bedrooms with a shared bath offer beautiful views of the surrounding area. In the dining room, guests are greeted with scrumptious breakfasts including such delicacies as egg and bacon quiche, sourdough hotcakes, bread pudding, and homemade huckleberry and raspberry preserves. For a spring or summer day’s leisurely exploration of St. Anthony, Aronlee (the tearoom’s celebrated cook) is happy to provide you with a snack lunch perfect for enjoying alongside the Snake River. During the winter when the weather may prohibit strolling outside, a crackling fire encourages guests to cuddle up in the living room and gaze at the snowy scene from the home’s large windows.

Whether you’re staying a few days in St. Anthony or just passing through, the Colonial Rose Tearoom and Bed & Breakfast offers something for both young and old. So come feel at home, and make your dreams come true. The doors are always open with a cup of warm tea waiting just for you!
