Captain John Mullan arrived in this Idaho region in the 1850s and began constructing the famous Mullan Road now paralleling I-90. Mullan’s road was a turning point for the Pacific Northwest as it opened up the west for growth and further exploration. In his honor, this small community and its local museum have adopted his name. Inside the museum, visitors will find regional memorabilia and artifacts dating as far back as 1880. Displays include historical furnishings, vintage clothing, photos, newspapers, and mining relics. The museum is open 12 PM to 4 PM Monday through Saturday from June 1 to September 1.
