| This pristine community compliments its neighbor, Coeur d’Alene, as a resort town. In its origination days, it was a fishing and trapping village. Matt Heyden won the right to name the lake, and subsequently the town, in an 1878 card game of seven-up. The name was later misspelled when the post office arrived in 1907. |
