Clearwater County has a rich heritage that is thoroughly captured in this museum. With exhibits ranging from the Nez Perce Indians to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, this museum is stocked with artifacts. Among the numerous displays are antique guns, Orofino newspapers dating back to 1899, early homesteading and logging industry exhibits, 4,500 historical photos, and artifacts left behind by Chinese miners in Clearwater County’s gold mining districts. All exhibits are area donations, and admission is free. The museum is open 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday from June 1 to September 30. During the remainder of the year, hours are 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday and private appointments are welcome.
