Iron Phone Junction
Situated at an elevation of 5,300 feet, Iron Phone Junction offers travelers a scenic vista of the impressive Hells Canyon. The route begins north of Riggins on Race Creek Road #241 and traverses a steeply graded, single lane gravel road. The scenic drive does have turnouts but is not suitable for RV’s or trailers. Iron Phone Junction is normally accessible from mid-June to mid-October, but travelers should check at the local ranger station for current road conditions. Travelers should plan at least two hours for this 30-mile roundtrip drive.
