Formerly known as the Luna House Museum for its placement on the original site of the Luna House Hotel, the Nez Perce County Historical Society Museum is housed within an art deco building constructed by the Works Progress Administration in 1937. Inside the museum, exhibits range from Native American artifacts and history, the fur trade, the gold rush of the 1860s, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, a model pioneer kitchen and bedroom, and several historical photos illustrating the development and progress of the City of Lewiston. A permanent display features artistic works depicting Chief Joseph in his youth, maturity, and old age, and children will delight in the history detective quiz. The museum is open from 10 AM to 4 PM Tuesday through Saturday.
