Sawpit/Low Saddle Loop

Distant views of the Seven Devils Mountains and a gorgeous view of Hells Canyon down to the Snake River can be found along the Sawpit/Low Saddle loop drive. The elevation climbs from 4,800 feet to nearly 7,000 feet while driving on the narrow, gravel/dirt roads. To access the route, drive north of Riggins to Race Creek Road #241. From here, proceed along Forest Roads #2060 and #1819 to locate the viewpoints and make a loop drive. The route is recommended only for high clearance vehicles, and travelers should be comfortable in their ability to drive on remote, backcountry roads. The area is generally accessible mid-June to mid-October, but travelers should check at the local ranger station for current road conditions.
