Golden
Pop. 50

The settlement of Golden came into existence when mining claims were staked in the area. Originally called Ten Mile Cabin, the town’s name was later changed as a reflection of the gold mined there. In addition to its mining activities, the town used to serve as an ideal overnight stop for travelers passing between Grangeville and Elk City. The old mine, which is located approximately one mile below the settlement, remained busy with activity through the 1930s.
