In 1864, early Boise resident and wealthy merchant, Cyrus Jacobs, built what is now the city’s oldest surviving brick building. This building, which Jose Uberuaga later used for a Basque sheepherders’ boardinghouse, is now included as part of the extensive Basque Museum and Cultural Center. The museum explores the Basque culture in the US and abroad and includes several artifacts unique to the Basques. The center is open Tuesday through Saturday year-round with free admission.
