Hulls Gulch National Recreation Trail
Distance: 7 miles roundtrip
Climb: gentle
Difficulty: easy
Usage: heavy
Location: Outside Boise’s northern city limits, drive along North 8th Street to the pavement’s end. Continue 6.5 miles, passing the lower trailhead, to a parking area the upper trailhead.

A Bureau of Land Management interpretive hike, this trail takes visitors just outside of Boise for a detailed description of the area’s natural features, including wildlife, ecology, and soil. Most hikers report glimpses of lizards, porcupines, rabbits, and the occasional coyote and badger. Best months for hiking are May through September.

Mores Mountain Trail
Distance: 4 miles roundtrip
Climb: gentle
Difficulty: easy
Usage: heavy
Location: Locate the Bogus Basin Road and drive 20 miles from Boise to the trailhead at Shafer Butte picnic area.

This easy nature trail offers families the opportunity to view the Treasure Valley and the Sawtooth Range at a distance. Best months for hiking are June through September.
