The Gem County Historical Museum opened in 1973 and is committed to preserving the history of life from past to present in Emmett and the surrounding area. Exhibits focus upon such areas as the Native Americans who once inhabited the area, fur trappers, miners, early settlers, a full-sized display of a general store, parlor, and early 20th century laundry room, and an old doctor’s and dentist’s office. In addition, several period pieces of clothing, pianos, office equipment, and photos are displayed. The museum is free of charge and is open from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM Wednesday through Friday and 12 PM to 5 PM on Saturdays in the summer and 10:30 AM to 4 PM Wednesday through Friday during the winter.
