Founded in 1995, the Idaho Black History Museum’s mission is to educate all races about African American history and culture, particularly emphasizing the experience of Idaho’s African Americans. Displaying several historical photos, crafts, and artifacts reflecting the heritage of Idaho’s African American culture, the museum’s building is also part of Idaho’s African American legacy. The museum is housed in the former St. Paul Baptist Church. Erected in 1921, the building is one of the oldest structures constructed by Idaho African Americans. The non-profit museum is open 10 AM to 4 PM Tuesday through Saturday and 1 PM to 4 PM on Sundays during the summer. Winter hours are 11 AM to 3 PM Wednesday through Saturday.
