Housed on the campus of Idaho’s Albertson College, the Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History is the only collection of natural history in southwestern Idaho, southeastern Oregon, and northern Nevada. The notable museum features anthropology, entomology, and archaeology collections from Idaho, the western US, and Baja California. Both national and international experts frequent the museum and utilize the elaborate research library. The museum is open Monday through Friday during the college’s academic year and also by appointment. Self-guided tours are free, but guided tours can be taken for a small admission fee.
