Joe’s Creek to West Peak

Location: From Smith’s Ferry, travel along US Highway 55, exiting onto FR 644. Following the road signs, proceed along FR 644, 626, and 614 leading to Sagehan Creek and Antelope Campgrounds. Between these two campgrounds, locate the trailhead for Joe’s Creek Road (which becomes Joe’s Creek Trail #137).

Hikers will wind north along the forested Joe’s Creek before reaching the summit of West Peak’s 8,086-foot elevation. Panoramic views of the surrounding area are offered atop the peak, and the area is prized for its profuse morel mushrooms. Best months for hiking are June through September.
