Spanish Town

Location: Elmore County
Located near the mouth of Elk Creek’s East Fork, Spanish Town was established when early settlers arrived in the area in the late 1800s. As these early miners began prospecting, they discovered artifacts suggesting that Spaniards had reached the area long before them, and they dubbed their new settlement Spanish Town. Once host to a large mining operation, Spanish Town is now falling apart. Visitors will find caved in mine tunnels, dilapidated buildings, and remnants of an old mill.
