| Established in approximately 1870 with a post office following in 1871, Garden Valley draws its name from the area’s scenic, fertile, and geothermal characteristics. During the gold rush era, Garden Valley supported year-round greenhouses full of fresh vegetables that were then sold to area miners. Today, the community is still home to the state’s largest wholesale greenhouse. The valley, which is located on the Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway, is flanked by two mountain ranges, and the South Fork and Middle Fork of the Payette River bisect the heart of the picturesque landscape. |
