| Established on a horseshoe-shaped bend in the Payette River, Horseshoe Bend began as a gold mining settlement in 1890. Mahlon B. Moore, who arrived in 1862 or 1863, is reportedly credited as the town’s first settler. The post office was established in 1867, and the railroad completed a line to the town in 1910. |
