Founded by Norman and Lillie Herrett, the Herrett Center for Arts and Science strives to educate elementary and secondary students, college scholars, and adults. The museum is dedicated to preserving and presenting the world’s history, with a particular emphasis on archaeology and the prehistoric American continent. Also inside is the Jean King Gallery of Contemporary Art and the Faulkner Planetarium, Idaho’s largest planetarium. The center is open 1 PM to 9 PM Tuesday through Saturday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. During the remainder of the year, operating hours are 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM Tuesday and Friday, 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM Wednesday and Thursday, and 1 PM to 9 PM on Saturdays. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
