Eagle Loop
Distance: 2.5 mile loop

Location: From south Twin Falls, bear left on Kimberly Road and travel 5 miles to Kimberly. Merge onto US Highway 30 here and proceed to Rock Creek Road. Drive 28 miles south on Rock Creek Road to the Eagle Loop Trailhead just past the Rock Creek Ranger Station and Magic Mountain Ski Area.

Wandering gently through open forests with a variety of birds chirping along the way, this trail and its numerous resting benches is perfect for families with small children. Beginning next to Rock Creek Road, continue uphill at the 0.75-mile mark and proceed to a rocky ridge with views of Trapper Peak. Keep to the right at all times and drop back into the forest. At the trail junction, proceed on the middle route through thick aspen trees back to the trailhead. Best months for hiking are May, June, and September.

Third Fork Rock Creek-Wahlstrom Hollow Loop

Location: From south Twin Falls, bear left on Kimberly Road and travel 5 miles to Kimberly. Merge onto US Highway 30 here and proceed to Rock Creek Road. Drive 23 miles to the Third Fork Trailhead located on the road’s east (left) side. The trailhead is poorly marked and simply reads “trailers.”

Hikers will pass through a variety of landscapes, including volcanic rock formations and cliffs, sagebrush, subalpine fir, and aspen trees. From the trailhead, cross over the Third Fork Bridge and hike 4 miles to the A.H. Creek Trail junction. Proceed northwest (right) at this junction up to Wahlstrom Hollow Pass. At the pass, ignore roads leaving to the left and right, and continue walking north-northwest to descend to a few beaver ponds. Follow the trail as it drops down near a stream, through a narrow canyon, and back to the trailhead. Best months for hiking are May, June, and September. Caution should be used at all times as bull snakes and rattlesnakes populate the area.
