| Mary Lucinda Baker was one of the first women to settle here, along with Mary Dorcheus, Mary Patlow, Mary Spratling, and Mary Smith. They were all part of the Mormon ward organized and established here in 1893, and the town’s name is therefore plural in honor of all of them. Mary Baker later served as the town’s first postmaster. The nearby Falls River was used as the source for a canal that continues to irrigate the farmland surrounding Marysville to the north and south. |
