| Ririe wasn’t founded until 1915, with its post office arriving one year later. It was named for David Ririe, a Mormon settler who helped the Oregon Short Line Railroad secure rights to pass through local farmland. The railroad, in turn, honored him by naming the station and town after him. When the Latter Day Saints established the regional ward, it also adopted David’s name, and the community legend became the ward’s first bishop. |
