Drive 7 miles north from Blackfoot on US Highway 91. At Wolverine Canyon Road, bear right and continue 10 miles. Proceed across Wolverine Creek onto Cedar Creek Road. This road becomes Blackfoot River Road.

Accessible during summer and early fall, the Lower Blackfoot River Backcountry Scenic Drive follows the Blackfoot River rim, offering unbeatable views of the canyon below. Steep canyon cliffs, aspen groves, and cottonwood trees line the entire drive, and a few pullouts provide optimal photo opportunities of the area. On the drive, visitors will also likely spot nesting golden eagles, prairie falcons, red-tailed hawks, great horned owls, and other raptor species. The route should only be attempted during daylight hours, and users are encouraged to contact the Palisades Ranger District for the latest road and weather information prior to departing.
