Pocatello’s Frontier Rodeo Association dates back to 1942 and has consistently provided rodeo events annually for the last 57 years. In 1987, the Association gained the national limelight with the establishment of the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo. A PRCA event ranking as America’s second-largest point-earning rodeo, the national competition features two champions from each of twelve rodeo circuits across the nation vying for fame and prizes. Advance tickets for the event are highly recommended.
In conjunction with the rodeo is the Cowboy Ski Classic held each year at the Pebble Creek Ski Area. Riding a saddle attached to a barrel with skis bolted to it, contestants zoom downhill and try to remain on their saddle while traversing turns and humps in the slopes. The lighthearted event draws hundreds of spectators each year.
