| Sterling arrived on the Idaho map as Mormon settlers moved to the area in 1910. Noting that the area had exceptional soil, early settler Thomas L. Jones dubbed the new town Sterling because he believed the town had great potential to prosper agriculturally and economically. Although the town did survive and a post office was established in 1911, Sterling never thrived and remains a tiny farming community to this day. |
