Idaho Falls is located in the heart of eastern Idaho and is a clean and friendly community that offers something for everyone. Originally known as Eagle Rock, the community was founded upon the influx of miners, fur traders, trappers, travelers, and early pioneers who forged their way west during the mid 1800s. With the development of railroads, ferries, and bridges, Idaho Falls carved out its niche on the valley floor near the Snake River. The once fledgling pioneer community has grown significantly and continues to prosper today with waterfalls serving as the town’s focal point.

Boasting a highly educated work force, technology corridor, and diverse economy, Idaho Falls serves as a retail trade hub to a region of approximately 250,000 people, extending into central and southeastern Idaho, western Wyoming, and southwestern Montana. In addition, Idaho Falls is a recreational and cultural haven. Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, and Sun Valley Ski Resort are all within a two hours drive. The nature wonderland of surrounding mountains and pine forests beckons hikers, horseback riders, swimmers, wildlife watchers, backcountry explorers, and snow enthusiasts year-round, while the Snake River provides an exciting day of world-class fly-fishing for anglers of all skill levels or a peaceful float trip. For those disinclined towards outdoor recreation, Idaho Falls provides cultural opportunities such as art, theater, museums, and a historic district, and the downtown area offers various specialty stores and a 60-acre shopping mall boasting 76 different stores. During the summer, the downtown Growers Market provides family fun and an alternative shopping option.

Home to just over 52,000 residents, Idaho Falls is a family friendly community offering big city amenities, vast recreational opportunities, and a rich legacy rooted in western culture. No matter the season, Idaho Falls is a great place to live, work, and play, and all are welcome to explore. The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce maintains a variety of information for residents, potential residents, and visitors alike, so stop by on your next trip to Idaho Falls.
